RANT: Carwash guys and sport seats in 135i
In the car I got manual sport seats, each has 5 different adjustments for height, length, etc., and it is time consuming to adjust every setting up to my personal preference. The thing pisses me the most is every time I go to carwash, the guys screw all seat settings when they try to clean back windows. It is so fr#aking annoying to re-adjust again and again after carwash visit every week. Each seat has big white handle on the top to access into second row, why the hell they never use it.
Sorry, guys I just needed to vent. |

Exactly the reason I got the power seats with comfort access. Touch the door handle it senses your key fob and everything including mirrors goes back to your position. I have not touched the seat controls in over a month thanks to this and my wife and I take turns driving. Not saying this to make you feel bad, but posts like this might help someone else decide whether power seats and CA are indeed worth it.
Oh, and what are you doing taking it to a car wash brother!

I prefer to wash my car myself, but as an alternative, I can drop it off at the dealership and they wash it for free. It only takes them about 25-30 minutes and they do a heckuva nice job. The only seat adjustment they've ever made is sliding the seat back a bit.

And you don't actually even need the comfort access for this, just the auto seats with memory function. They will move back into place when you unlock the car or open the door, depending on how it is programmed.

Hate to say it, but anything but a careful handwash with a sheepskin mitt and microfiber towel dry is blasphemy to detail buffs. (or anyone who cares enough to at least try to keep the swirl marks at bay...)

Having been a car valeter for about 5 years, they move the seats around so as to make sure they can fully vacuum under the seats and all round them, more easily (and better). Also if you raise the seat up it actually moves forward slightly further, this gives a bit more room for moving about in the back to polish the rear windows, and thus you can be more careful where your feet go.
So cut the guys some slack, they are simply trying to do you a better job, but if it really bothers you, you can do one of two things: 1. Clean the car yourself! 2. Could always ask them not to move the seat and thus not clean the car as well. You choose!

i think the OP is just frustrated with the manual seats... it took me about a week to get my manual seats perfect, and i thought there was no need to get power seats, until i picked the1 up after getting tinted and they had adjusted every possible adjustment, and i'm still working on getting it back to where i want it. besides that, the manual seats are great...

Had the manual sport seats in my E92--they were only a pain in the ass when other people got in or out of the backseat. But then it would take me a few days to get the seat just right again--drove me nuts.....so I got the power seats with the 1er, and it has been a lot easier.....

No one, and I mean no one will ever wash my 135i...I do mine weekly( the neighbor across the street busted my balls about having the cleanest car in America). I am now addicted to Meguire's Quik Wheel Detailer. Cleans the brake dust off like a champ between washes...Matter of fact, I don't even like giving rides to people as I don't want them SITTING in my 135i. I know, I'm insane.............

I would wash mine every week but I:
-Don't drive it in the rain -Only park where I can see it -Have it already paint sealed and 2 coats of Best of Show Griots wax -Use the BMW satin indoor dust cover <love this thing> She is getting a bath this weekend, but it's so easy once you have the paint sealed and waxed good.

I guess it would as long as they are using New Clean water when they begin and are rinsing the wash rag every time the rag comes off of the car and into the soap bucket. I think it would also be wise if they started washing at the top and worked their way down. and only washing from left to right to avoid swirls. OK you caught me!!! I'm pretty fricken anal about washing my car!! I would have to say " No ONE and I mean NO ONE will care about your car like the Owner No matter what they say"!!!!
