Finally drove 1

So I decided to finally give the one a spin. My current 3 series lease isn't up until March so I have been putting it off until we get closer to my lease ending. I took the 128i then 135i then 335i out for a spin, in that order. My thoughts:

128 - nice car, solid feel. I think it handles better, and is definitely more agile and fast than my current 325i. Definitely a worthy car to purchase.

135 - wow! As others have said already, the car is just begging to go fast. You punch the accelerator, the car just flies. You barely press on the accelerator, and the car still seems to fly. Even just light acceleration seems to have you at 60 mph before you know it. I loved the steering wheel!! The exhaust note is awesome!

335i (sedan) - Wanted to get an idea for what the 135i feels like against another car with the same engine but in a 4 door sedan like my current car. Still acclerates very well, slightly slower. Overall just a little softer feeling on the road. I took a right turn at an intersection in this and the 135i, and the 335i seemed to hold the turn alittle better (?driver inconsistency? - I am not sure why).

My CA implied that he could probably get me out of the last 3 months of my lease, so I could be looking to buy by the end of the year instead of March.

He also thinks that the '09's will probably have some lease/finance deals, although he doesn't know any firm facts. He thinks though that we will see some leasing offers and APR offers for finance once the 2009 models hit in October. We'll see. They are doing 3.9% on 3-series and 2.9% on 5-series currently.

This is going to be a long wait!! Maybe I still should have waited longer to drive 1.

Wait longer? Heck no. Now you get to join the rest of us in counting the days, reading 1 reviews, ordering performance parts, applauding other members who finally got their 1s, and just otherwise going stir crazy.

Have someone take over the lease. And lease or buy the 135i.

You may have been going at half the speed in the 335i.

That's actually a possibility! It actually felt like the 135i was accelerating faster at the apex of the turn, which is why I think the 335i was smoother. Like I said "driver inconsistency".

For me, I think I am pretty well set on a 135i coupe with quite a few options.

Very good. I always also like the 335i coupe and sedan, but they are a little too expensive for myself. Good to hear you want the 135i when you can afford any of them. I can't wait to drive a little 135i monster.

I think people have summed it up well here previously when the say that with a 1er you are getting a luxury SPORTS sedan, and with a 3 series, you are getting a LUXURY sports sedan. Just alittle different emphasis in each car.

You're also one of the well-heeled masses in a 3. You're a lot more unique in a 1.

^^ Absolutely true. I drive a 325i currently, one of the thousands in southern california. I actually have yet to see a 1er on the road.
