Only took two weeks
So, I came out to my car today to find the windows covered with "silly string".
It had rained over night, so it all just fell right off without even leaving a mark so no big deal really. It is just the fact I have never had a vehicle vandalized in the 8 years of owning one makes me wonder what to expect now that I own a BMW. My previous two vehicles were brand new when I bought them, but never touched once. Yet here is my Bimmer, two weeks old, drawing the wrong attention. I know there are a lot of BMW (owner) haters out there. I can't help but think the car being a BMW had something to do with it since no other car in the lot was touched and I have no personal enemies. Is this the kind of thing I should expect from now on? At least they were "kind" enough not to get it on the paint or soft top. |

Silly string seems pretty harmless, just be glad it wasn't keyed or egg'd. But all the same, just beat up every kid under the age of twelve in a half mile radius. Odds are you'll get the ones...

Silly String? Where do you live? Emerald City? Be worried when they leave a stiletto buried in the hood. And get covered parking.

it's possible that some kids were just messing around with the silly string, shooting it at one another and one of them just used your car as a shield. It may not have had anything to do with the type of car, just wrong place wrong time.

Most probably. I shouldn't be so flip. Silly string on Leatherette dried in the sun is sort of like liquid nails. Tried to to get it off before. Water is useless.

Like I said, I know it was harmless and I was pretty much over it as soon as I saw it wiped off clean, but it is still a little irritating. I understand that it wasn't egged, painted, or keyed, but I don't understand why people have to mess with other peoples stuff at all.
Out of curiosity, has anyone else here had their stuff intentionally vandalized? I'm sure there are several and I'm sure it was far worse than silly string. Come on, bust out the horror stories... if you are to the point you can laugh about it now. |

Small world indeed. Coincidently, I also served in the Army for four years as I take it you do/did from your user name. I got out in 2002, although my brother just joined last year and is currently in Germany, but heading to Iraq next week. |
