Hello

I just joined today. I am interested in a new 128i or 135i. Currently I drive a modded 1993 Honda Accord EX Coupe with 200whp. I want a manual 1 series.

Welcome buddy. I'm just curious here, what are you looking for in a car, because as you know the 128 and 135 are two different beasts. If you are looking for power and more of SPORTS car I say 135. If you want to spend less money and don't really care for the power, then 128. Honestly I think the 135 is the way to go, I think for the money its one of the best cars you can get out there.

Hello Chris.

So far I am leaning towards a 135i in Alpine with black leatherette, sport package and heated seats, I want to keep the price down. I do want power, but reliability is very important to me. I am a little hesitant with the turbo engine though. My old modded Accord is pretty fast, it does 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds. I will keep my Accord because I couldn't get what I have spent on it. I have read about the 29.2 program with the turbolag issue and it makes me wanting to wait until this is solved. I also read about fuel pump issues with the turbo engine on other forums I have been reading at. In time we will all find out what is going on and how reliable the 135i is. I am really excited about the car, I have never driven or owned a car any faster than my modded Accord. I also have my Accord slammed down so it handles great.

Everyone is different. Drive both and decide for yourself

Both the 135i and the 128i will be faster than your modded Accord.
Don't worry too much about 29.2, any issues will be resolved.
The fuel pump problems still occur but are rarer than you would expect from reading forums.

This is good news lib. I guess bmw will take care of us. Now that the new 09's will come out soon, I will wait and see before I consider buying a 1 series. My Accord is a blast to drive, I just want a real rwd sports coupe. The 135i will fit the bill. A bmw for a great price that is really fast.

As a former Honda owner I can only warn you that the BMW driving sensation must be experienced to be appreciated. Hondas can be great little go-carts, but going from an Accord to a 135i will be like a revelation to you. Get yourself down to a dealer right away for a test drive, but first drive the test route with the Accord. You'll see.

i wouldn't worry about the turbo. they've sold many thousands of 335s and 535s already. its not a new engine.

Very good. I need to get down there and drive one of these little monsters. I have not driven a rwd car for a long time.

I guess I don't need to worry about the engine, small percent having problems.

I don't have a need for a convertable, not many hot sunny days here in Wisc. And this will be my daily driver, my Accord is slammed to the ground, and I sold my beater that was nickel and dimeing me.

Can't wait to go for a test spin.

One piece of advice. If you drive it, you will most likely buy it. Just make sure you get with a CA that lets you open it up some.

I better be careful when I drive one of these beasts. I don't want to buy too soon. I think maybe sept 08 to buy an 09 model. My wife doesn't drive a stick very well, so thats another reason to get a manual, HAHA.
