Rolling from one lease to another.

I currently lease a '06 330i (the lease is up 7/08). I am expecting delivery of my 1er the week of 5/19. I was told at the time I leased the 3er that I could roll into a new lease with less than 3 months left without penalty (e.g., paying off the old lease).

Now BMW FS is saying that they are glad to have me as a returning customer but I am expected to pay for the car even though they (and ultimately the auction house) will have possesion of my old car.

Has anyone had a similar experience? If so, how did you address it?
