Leather vs. Leatherette
Ok...I know this is a hot topic among BMW buyers, and as far as I can tell there is no thread on this topic. So here is a poll...after you vote, please explain your reasoning (Comfort, Smell [not new car smelling], texture..etc).

I'm still undecided - I'd love a cloth option, but we're all too Grey Poupon in the US for that, I guess.
Pro for leather is Lemon - it's beautiful. Pro for leatherette is that it's cheaper by 1 1/2 Recaros. Tough call. :iono: |

'ette for me, because I'll be redoing them in Alcantara anyway.

Leatherette. I have dogs, a kid on the way, and like to flyfish. No more Land Rovers in the family, so the 1er will have to do. Leatherette is so darn durable and easy to clean... So I'll give up the baseball glove smell

1. Cloth
2. Leatherette and, bringing up the rear, it's: 3. Leather

It's your money and you have the right to blow it any way you desire.

I'm sorry, but I would rather have cloth than leatherette. Cloth & Leather breathe whereas leatherette does not. For a no cost option I want cloth.
Edit: Obviously my vote was for leather. |

Vinyl (leatherette) is much better than leather. It looks just as good as leather but lasts 3 times as long. I'll take the extra $1000 that I save (or really didn't waste on inferior leather) on the car, and put a LCD TV in the bathroom instead. Or maybe buy a piece of Stickley furniture.

Hmmm...surprising results on the poll. Not what I'd expected.
I'll wait to decide. The exterior color being the determining factor. If I get Sedona Red I'd want black leatherette. Alpine White and it would be Terra leather. LeMans Blue...I go where no man has gone before and get the Lemon leather. It's a Sverige kinda thang... |

Leatherette for me. My dad had an E34 525 with leatherette and continually amazed us. It felt exactly like every other leather you could find yet you could spill coffee on it and it would be perfectly fine. Loved it. But, I would take whatever is standard, to be honest...
