M4 long term storage
Hey guys, so I have a 2016 M4 that’s been sitting in my garage for a year and a half now and will probably sit for at least another year. I put new oil in it last spring and drove it around for about the equivalent of half a tank.
I just want to know what I need to do or be concerned about with leaving it for another year at the minimum. It’s sitting on a charger designed for li-ion batteries and it’s in an enclosed environment. It needs new set of tires anyways so I have no concerns with those. My main concerns are fuel since at least half of what’s in there has been in there since August 2021 and oil.

Personally I wouldn't worry about the oil. At most, you can change the oil and leave fresh oil in there, but you'll be OK.
For fuel, i would fill the tank up and if you really want to, add a fuel stabilizer. Since you're not worried about the tires, and you have a tender you should be fine. Something I do when I store my car is close all of the air vents, and leave a open box of arm and hammer on the floor board for moisture. I do the air vents so little bugs can't make their way in. |
