New old tires

I was getting some new Nitto nt01’s for my track wheels and was having trouble finding 305/35/18 rear tires locally. Then I stumbled across a local private for sale ad. I’m trying to decide what to do. Looking for opinions (prices are in Canadian dollars)

Option one: $1075 for a new set shipped to my door from an online retailer.

Option two: $1000 for a new, never mounted set of 305/35/18 rear And 275/40/17 front tires. Bought a couple years ago in 2020.

I have no use for the 275/40/17’s but figure I could sell them for a few hundred. My only concern is that the tires are 2 years old, even though they are brand new.

Thanks again for any input.

What is the manufacture date on those old tires? Stamped on the side 4 digit code, week/year ie 4220 42nd week of 2020

What is the manufacture date on the "new" ones you are getting shipped? If the company can't or won't tell you, I wouldn't purchase from them.

Once you have those facts you are in a better position to make a judgement. Older tires definitely will be slightly harder, slower. If it is 2 years, not diabolical, but it could be 5 years. Depends on how fast you want to be vs how much you want to save a few $. Different judgement call for different people

New set shipped. Even newer tires now can be dated like 2 years back. I had a set I purchased in 2020 that were 2018 dated - wouldn't want to drive 4 year old tires tbh. I feel the difference between older and fresher rubber. I non-voluntarily had to discover this with a few sets of Super Sports and Cup 2s.

Decided to stick with the brand new tires. Also anyone know what you need to run a 305 on the front?
