Reasonable / functional aero for track
Hey, I am considering front/rear aero for track purposes, not for show but I'm very OK with it if it "happens" to look good.
There's a lot of options out there and it's hard to differentiate what actually makes a difference versus what is just for looks. Rear: I'd probably go with a full wing over a spoiler. Currently have a small white lip-type spoiler on the trunk. Front: I have no idea but feel like I could use more downforce up front. I am a bit hesitant to put a massive lip because I already scrape going up my own driveway. |

You need balance, so if you're not using an appropriate splitter for the wing it's a pointless endeavor.
Serious aero options: BW, Zebulon, RS Future, Nine Lives, AJ Hartman, Verus Engineering Otherwise all the usual GTS inspired offerings.

Bump, just looking for a functional setup, does not have to be the absolute best, but would like each part to make a noticeable difference.
If anyone has some specific product recommendations that would be appreciated. Front splitter + wing is enough, or need side skirts, canards, rear diffuser, etc? What combo would give a good upgrade? Quote:

That is the best bet, especially given that it is a matched set. However, I'm not sure it falls into the 'reasonable' camp! lol
GTS aero is very reasonable and can be noticed. |

For a bit more over the Bimmerworld GTMore package, you can go M4 GT4.

The GT4 looks like it has 'CS' aero that is perfectly streetable. The GTMore aero is much, much bigger. I have a GT4 front splitter at home for testing but the stock GTS suspension is too soft to install that big of a splitter |

You are not kidding. This IS massive and def not streetable unless you want to decapitate cyclist/pedestrians....but I still want it.

At the track I constantly see cars with ridiculous rear wings paired with basically zero front aero. You won't see me with that. |

I won't be running one. It's easy to get lots of rear downforce, the issue is always the front.

These BMW Motorsport dive planes seem like an interesting alternative, albeit aggressive looking. I question if they can generate real front downforce on their own, or if a motorsport type lip splitter does most of the work. Anyone know? My front bumper is already mangled so I don't mind drilling holes to install these. |

If the lip/splitter is robust enough it can handle offs. You can stand on the BW GTmore one and it doesn't budge We'll see what we have to do to drive around with this... |

That front lip looks like it belongs on one of those crazy pikes peak hill climb cars. It’s not so much a front “lip” more like a front “wing”

So I just ran all this by my wife and she didn't say no… lol
I had my eye on a McLaren 600LT and now I'm selling this track build idea as a budget option Edit - any opinions on aeroflow dynamics for front splitter? Looks functional and more cost effective than a lot of options, I just know I will destroy it so I don't really want something that costs thousands up front https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...e-splitter-v1/ |

If you go with the Bimmerworld front and rear GTMore parts you will definitely need higher rate springs front and rear. Both these parts together create more down force than the factory GT4 parts.
Also, BW has installed some beefy skid blocks on the underside of the front splitter to help reduce damage over obstacles. That said this is probably not something you would want to run on your daily. |
