Any of you guys have good experience with Girodisc rotors?

I'm going to finish installing the front Girodisc rotors onto my R8 today - aside from them being half the price of a replacement set of factory rotors; are you happy with their performance? It's an upgrade in overall diameter for me (36*-380mm) but same caliper + pads.

I've had no significant temperature issues with the factory rotors as far as overheating brake fluids but I notice the lack of bite as they get hotter. Should I expect some improvement?

They are absolutely top notch.

I knew they were somewhat good because I've only heard good things about them over the years, but I ran them last year on the GTS and was really impressed. Top notch metallurgy, after 7 days they still look great -- more than the BBK you used to run for example. As a PFC and Alcon-BimmerWorld BBK user I thought it was not possible to be positively surprised with a rotor kit, but the Giro delivered.

Get the biggest diameter you can swing if they have options.

There is a large difference between high quality aftermarket two piece rotors and oem-anything when talking about track use. Cooling is significantly better in a high quality aftermarket rotor like the PFC DD (NLA) and the Girodisc

Edit: I am still switching from CCB calipers+Girodisc to a set of nickel plated Alcon-BimmerWorld BBK, but this has more to do with running 18" wheels than anything else.
For the first part of the 2022 season I'll run CCB calipers+Girodisc in GTS1 and PFC front BBK+AP RadiCal rear BBK in GTS2. Once the nickel ones are ready both cars will swap out

Good to hear. Those stock rotors are so heavy. They do look extremely well made and I like that they're made in the US.

This was the largest diameter - have to run a 7mm spacer between the knuckle and caliper.

I really like that as well. It's not easy to get anything made in the US and I'm impressed Girodisc and PFC go through the extra effort in doing it

Their surface finish is really nice too. If only PFC made pads for my car.

You *could* try taking measurements of the pads from your car, and then find out if PFC makes anything those dimensions or larger. Then you have them milled down to fit your application, and voila!

This is my front rotor after about around 14 days give or take, they wear pretty well I think. Some slight cracking from heat cycles. I think they are a very good upgrade across basically every marque of car because the discs are much better than any OEM is making.

My setup includes Goodridge SS lines and Akebono ceramic pads

Really liked them. Pedal never went even a little soft for a full 25 min session with Girodiscs (fronts only in my case), Castrol SRF and PFC11 pads. Very good upgrade over OEM rotors. Highly recommend!

That 1029 front shape is hard to find race pads for. Let me know if you're having trouble finding them, I might have something.

Is it the 4 padlets? Those are the ones my caliper uses.

It's really hard for me to admit but as time goes on I'm starting to really like the new G8x more... not in all colors but black looks really mean.

Yup. 1029 front, 810 rear. Ferodo makes you buy 2 boxes for the front last time I checked, which really sucks.

Yeah it's part of the reason I switched to Hawk (they come in one box) only to discover they perform better than Ferodo too.

That might be the first time I've ever heard that. Which Hawk compound?

DTC70 front, DTC60 rear but I just installed DTC60 front to reduce some bias to the front. The suspension is a bit too soft for such an aggressive pad.

First time about their performance? Hawks are outstanding! I liked Ferodo but can no longer justify their price and how quickly they disintegrate.

FWIW PFC does make a pad to fit only the rear (not front YET) CCB caliper (FMSI 1155) PFC 7780 but you can only get it in 08 compound with 18mm thickness and min qty is 50 sets. The tool is on the way, pads ~1 year away. Rotors, been 3 years in the making and some day...

I saw this rotor advert in this month's Evo magazine. I'm sticking with my Giros but curious if anyone here has experience with these? They are hecho in Italy.
