Information has been circulated that:

Production ended 2/28/2022 just as promised by BMW
Only 1 production year for the 2022 M5 CS
No more ability to order since roughly ~400 allocations were given by BMW; at least 14 dealers had their customer orders cancelled because that number has been reached (order bank remained open until they corrected this)

The pcar auction comes with a framed photo of the car (1 of 3) that is signed by the photographer and owner of the car. Is that a thing people regularly do? This is the first I've seen of it. Also wondering if the photographer and owner are one and the same otherwise not sure why you would want a picture signed by the previous owner lol.

A shame there are so many being sold to flippers. There are people who want to actually enjoy and keep the car. I understand capitalism is capitalism, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it...

According to my data, of the estimated 177 that landed (probably 200ish by now), only 14 "used" ones were sold/are on sale for a profit ranging from 15k -50k over sticker.
Roughly about 8% of those were "flipped"(some by brand name dealerships and some individuals), but majority of them went to enthausists and collectors.

Thats not so say if more will come out of the woodwork to be "flipped" in the future; but it seems like ~8% that went on to be resold isn't that bad at all.

There honestly is a much higher number of dealerships that marked up a new M5CS than those who purchased and flipped.

I personally would place the blame more towards the dealership because of the fact that allocations were supposed to be only given to a "pre-sold" unit, therefore:

1. Dealerships marked up cars where buyers backed out (they even do this for regular M cars)
2. Dealerships marked them sold with a fake or employee name, with plans to mark them up

The mark ups are only getting serially higher which serves as a positive feedback loop for limited edition cars like the CS. 6 figure ADMs won’t be uncommon once they stop making these and the hybridized M5s are announced/arrive
