Paint chipping/ falling off bumper

Here are some photos of the front bumper on my 17 X5M with 55k miles.
Has anyone else had the paint just fall off their bumper like this? I've had some paint chip off the wheel arches on the back but I can understand that given the width of the tires. I've always taken good care of the paint so not sure what's going on here…[IMG][/IMG]

Yikes. Are you the original owner? Maybe the bumper was resprayed at some point? It seems like a paint prep issue. Sorry it's happening. Frustrating on any car, nevermind an expensive one.

Agreed, I would bet that’s a bumper replacement that’s been painted. The factory-sprayed won’t chip off in chunks like that.

Agreed with the above. Accident history on the car?

It's very obvious (especially in the top left photograph) this bumper was very poorly repainted in the past.

Take it to a reputable body shop and have it completely resprayed.

yup yup.. poor paint prep on replaced bumper... if bumper was original, you will not see the black plastic even if it was reprayed or repaired..

Nor necessarily. I had the same issue on a 911 where I had a small chip I didn't see but ended up with the same after I did the mistake to use the spray gun at the carwash.
I took it to the dealership since usually the paint comes with like 10 years warranty but after looking, they found a small chip which made it easier for the water to peal the paint. (I was also surprised about how the paint layer was soooo thin)

* Now, I have the EXACT same issue on a 2016 X5 M!
If the bumper was repainted, it may be what the others say but can also be what I mentioned.

Thanks for all of the feedback. No ancient history that I'm aware of but, I am the second owner. Carfax is clean but I'm well aware that doesn't mean it wasn't in an accident. I plan to have the bumper repainted soon.
