Tire Pressure Monitor Malfunction

Lately Tire Pressure Monitor Malfunction has started popping up. It has now happened twice and then goes away. Each time I do a reset, and it seems to work fine showing the tire pressure values that matches a manual check.

Anyone experienced this? Any insights, fixes?

Thanks.

Your sensors are probably low on battery

Ditto...above. If you have any diagnostic software or equipment...retrieve any fault codes to see if any of the TPM sensors are not sending a signal...or if your RDC module is not communicating with a sensor.

As mentioned above, there is a battery in each sensor...they don't last forever...so if one or more sensors is not communicating with the RDC sensor...then you might want to look into replacing one (or possibly all) of them.

The error has not popped up for a while now - 3 days so far. I got a hold of Bimmerlink/BimmerCode set and error was RDC signal error front right wheel. I cleared it and checked just today and I have a clean Bimmerlink diagnostics report.

Replaced all wheel electronics and all's good now. I went to discount tyres with the BMW specific wheel electronics I'd bought from FCpeuro. They claimed they couldn't program them, so I had to buy theirs just to get the job done. Theirs work and no complaints. Do those devices, when made for a specific car, need programming? Curious .....

If you buy from bmw they need programming. Sensors from tirerack, fcpeuro come pre programmed.

I found a set of bmw oem sensors and having issues with programming. I keep getting TPM malfunction error even after my bmw guy programmed from his tool. Bimmerlink app says Front left wheel sensor no reception. I tried resetting several times from idrive it gets stuck at 49% and endup with TPM malfunction error. I'll prob install tirerack sensors. Never has issue with them in past
