Hockenhiemring PEC

Gang - I can't contain my excitement. I just drove a 718 GT4 at Porsche Experience Center in Hockeheimring. We did 60 minutes following an instructor on a technical 2.8km handling course enclosed with the ring. Think auto-x course on roids. There is a 25 degree banked curve, numerous off camber sections and 2 decent straight sections. It would take me days to get into a rhythm. The GT4 is so easy to hustle near the limit. I need one.

The program included 3 other participants driving 991 GT3 RS' following an instructor in a 992 Turbo S. Unfortunately, torrential downpour hit after 20 minutes into the session. It eventually tapered to a drizzle but the wet conditions, coupled with a novice in the group, made the pace underwhelming at times. The experience really left me craving some sessions with a GT4 at my home track.

oh yeah, I also had the opportunity to spend a few days with a G82 comp - a rental car b/c my German father in-law's 964 and Superbettle are verbotten. The S58 has gobs of torque on demand - its an amazing car for the unrestricted portions of the autobahn. The dampening feels noticeably superior to the F80 but this impression might be due to the smooth German roads and the plush base seats. My complaints: the exhaust note was muted (maybe the Euro particulate filters are to blame?), e-brake vs. yank, digital tach/speedo, girthy proportions. I would have loved to get this beast on the track. Out of respect for my wife I didn’t toss it around much...she freaked when I jokingly toggled to the drift analyzer

Now back to the real world. A few photos. We need the Yaris GR!

Those particulate filters are terrible. My car is a lot quieter than 2018.

What an amazing trip though - I'm jealous! Porsche gonna Porsche. That chalk GT3 lawdddd
