I have just bought my n55 1 series coupe and I'm absolutely in love with it I plan to 1M the car my only worry is that I have bought the least powerful/tuneable N55 engine (N55B30M0-D)
I'm thinking of upgrading 1. Charge-pipe 2. Intercooler 3. Induction kit / intake 4. Decat down pipe I'm wondering what type of power is possible with these mods or what people have achieved with other mods I'm just trying to work out weather I have bought the right car to make a 1M rep Just to mention mine is a 2010 model with the PWG Not EWG |

Nah you'll be fine for OTS stage 2+ It used to be that with the PWG you had to send your DME off to a tuner to "unlock" it in order to flash tune. MHD has gone a long ways since then and you should be able to flash it through the OBD port like the EWG N55's.

So are you saying it's still possible to get good power from the engine and a good car to build a 1M rep from? My fear is it's the weakest engine and I will not be able to pull a lot of power from it what would I need to make 600bhp I only want 400 but knowing I have the room for later down the line would be nice |

If we assume 15% loss on the dyno, 340whp is around 400bhp. Should be doable with just bolt ons and an aggressive tune. There's plenty of people that have gotten close to that number on 98ron. Maybe add methanol and you should be right at your goal.
600bhp would be 510whp and that's just not possible on regular fuel even with Pure Stage 2. There's a few single turbo options out there but I don't think any of them fit RHD. |
