Paying Tax and Registering F80 in Texas
Hey guys,
I recently purchased a 2018 F80 in Ohio. The dealer shipped the car but didn't do any tax paperwork since Texas is not a tax reciprocal state with Ohio. Now I'm trying to pay the texas sales tax and get the car registered. Since I don't have a title on me (the lienholder has it) and the car was not registered in my name before. Can anyone chime in on what all I need to register the car in Texas? I'm being told I need to have the title or registration in my name to register a car. Thanks! |

Either your lien holder will need to register this vehicle in Texas or they will need to ship the title to you so you can register it yourself. The lienholder will receive a Texas title. You will also need to perform a state inspection with a one-time out-of-state inspection and attach the slip to the registration form.

You no longer get a out of state inspection form. Since everything is in an online database.
Go get the car inspected. Fill out the 130-u form and get your lien holder to mail it in with the title and fees to your county tax office. Since you don’t have the title you can’t go in person and do it yourself. |
