ID4 Apple Car Play IS Possible, Details.

Kremersino in China is able to remotely code your ID4 to have Apple carplay for those who are desperate.

You can either buy the module to install yourself, or have them code your unit. No promises on the performance of the older style ID4 vs "ID4.2" 2016+ models. But I will be installing their box since Superior human beings use Android.

This is the same box most US stores are selling- but with the lower price most likely comes with NO technical support due to the Chinese vendor. At your own risk? details to come...

If your Idrive looks like the below they are able to technically do it. But it may be only the NBT-EVO units because of the updated module. I did not ask about 2015 version ID4.

I have the module from carlinkit installed on my 16 F82 with ID4. No complaints here, works perfect! I would advise that you update to the latest firmware once you get it.

It does. I have a 16. I want CarPlay so bad. So I would need a new head unit and software?

Refer to cossie's link above. You can buy the MMI standalone box to give you wireless carplay and android auto.

I've had it for a few months now and have no issues.
