Bentley/Audi A7 Style Third Brake Light

Hey guys,

I have had this obsession recently trying to find an example of someone with an F8x who has removed their OEM third brake light and replaced it with an LED strip similar to the new Audi A7 or Bentleys at the top of the rear windshield.

My plan is to remove the third brake light and use the existing wiring to power the new LED strip. There’s a bunch on eBay and reviews seem promising for long term reliability.

I’m not too familiar with how picky the F82 is when it comes to modifications like this. Anyone aware of any F82 owners that have done this? Will it cause an error on the dash? Can anyone think of a reason why this wouldn’t work or any issues it would cause? Thoughts on this in general?

Photos for reference (last one is edited photo of my car with mock up LED strip)

Well, on the 6 ser you pictured - the 3rd brakelight is integral to the external spoiler, while obviously ours is inside the car.

To use an external light you would need to find some way of getting the wiring thru from inside to outside

Internal would be the way to go & it seems as if the Audi is internal, but you would definitely want something that has a housing so you're not looking at the backside of an led strip

There's always stuff like this on AliBaba, but personally I don't buy from there...

I would definitely put the led inside the car and cover it with a black casing to prevent light leaking in the cabin. My concern is just the computer recognizing the none OEM LED and throwing a code.

If it throws an error code, that can easily be codes out. Just code that you do not want the hot or cold test for that light.
