Painting M1/M2, Start/Stop Buttons?
Does anyone have a how-to on painting these? I know there are some versions available through suppliers like IND but they are limited in colors (red, blue, and yellow).
The thing that makes it seem a bit more difficult than just painting them would be the imprints on the buttons. |

I don’t think painting is the hard part at all - I was asking if anyone knows how to keep the text that’s engraved into the button since painting it will cover it all.

You also need paint that will allow the light to shine through.

Honestly, it's probably going to be very hard to paint those yourself and paint the letter engraving nicely. Just buy something that's a close color to what you want, or better yet - fuck it. I had my car for like 3 months before I even realized the engine start button was red.

I feel like no one is really reading the posts. I know there are painted/OEM buttons that are not black and I know that painting a piece of plastic isn't difficult. I'm asking if anyone knows how to paint the M1/M2/Start-Stop buttons different colors while retaining the light pass through since the color options available are pretty limited.
So far it seems like the answer is no |

There are also transparent paints out there. Do some general research on google. |

I think no one is really reading the question is because no one, including myself, understands why you would want to paint the buttons some other color. If it is not black, red or blue, it does not belong in your car. I have the red ones, and I think i actually prefer the clean look and soft touch of the oem black buttons

Jeez you guys are a tough crowd. Reason I asked was because I got the yellow start stop button and wanted to see if there’s a way to match the M1/M2 buttons to that. There’s a reason there’s aftermarket buttons of different colors and I wanted to see if there was a way to make up for the colors that aren’t available.

Maybe just mask off the steering wheel and try spray painting the buttons. Or just dye the steering wheel yellow and leave the buttons black for some contrast.

I get why OP is asking the question. He wants the lights to be able to shine through the buttons.
Are you going for a custom color that IND doesn't sell or am I incorrect assuming light still shines through the IND buttons? |

The back light does shine through the yellow start-stop button I have and that’s what I was going for - being able to paint the button a color and have the light shine through. Although Schultz did point out that the color I wanted does in fact exist, it would be nice to paint them a different color and have the light go through

I mean, I have daytona violet steering wheel trim, and I would potentially be open to DV buttons; but I'm still good with the black ones. If I had red, I'd switch them out fir black.
