Benefits of updating DME if already on bootmod3?

My understanding of bootmod3 maps is that the flashed map is based on whatever DME software version you have at the time of unlock. If my DME software is fairly old, are there any tangible benefits to upgrading to a newer istep version and reflashing with bootmod3? Specifically, I'm on 16-03-504 currently. I know there are issues upgrading to recent 2019 versions and trying to use bootmod3, but what about an update to a 2017/2018 version? Any known benefits?

I don't want to update the DME base version, but I am curious if there are differences in the base map that bootmod3 maps do not or can not address.

Color in your HUD is one of the benefits, FWIW.

Do you mean in non-M mode? I already have color in the M-mode RPM bar. I'm also a bit surprised the HUD would be handled by the DME module.

I am on a older version than you currently. If I have it updated, and then let ProTuningFreaks know that I updated my firmware and to update my profile, will BM3 flashes from there on be on the latest version?

That's my understanding, but don't quote me on that!

Is there any difference between the bootmod3 tune at all on the engine, on a older Istep compared to a newer version?
