Has anyone regretted buying a used m3/m4 via bimmerpost?

Hey all, next year I'll be upgrading from a 435 to a used M4 and have seen a ton of nice options here on bimmerpost. My question is has anyone had a bad time when purchasing from another bimmerpost forum member? It seems like every car is see on here is legit and has been taken care of. I've usually gone through major dealerships and don't have any experience purchasing from a private party. Of course I'd need to do a ppi on every vehicle I'm thinking about buying but wanted to hear other's experiences. Thanks!

at least you can back track a members post history here for some factual car history. honestly a used car is a used car. only service records and inspection can save you. this platform is likely to be modded; as long as they haven't done aggressive tuning with crazy engine mods, I would be good to go. Finding a stock one is a bit dumb IMO; stock is way to sterile especially cosmetically on this car

Just because a seller is on here doesn’t auto-enroll them into the sainthood. Do a PPI, check their post history, and like any dealer, be prepared to walk away if you sense something fishy.

Not everyone on here is going to be honest. Maybe their car was flagged, had some shady accident, or had some problems with their car. I’m sure it’s the 2% but you never know. Flame on.

Noted. I agree that I'll be able to vet through some people via past post history, which is nice. I also agree with you on the stock one looking unfinished in a sense. Thanks for the input

No matter where you get it from, have a dealer run the vin to see if it is flagged in any way. Last thing you want to do is buy a car that has a voided warranty.

I assumed a lease from a member here, and I’ve bought a few parts from members also. Based on their reputation here and good communication, it’s a bit more comforting than dealing with a complete stranger.

Some people on here have more integrity than a used car salesmen though....
