Spoiler, Diffuser, and Front Lip. To get BMW or not?

Has anyone have opinions on any of those parts?

I want the BMW M performance style as its simple and not overly aggressive but not sure what brand to get. The BMW stuff seems reasonable minus the rear diffuser. I know there are tons of knockoffs and sometimes the knockoffs can be the better route. Has any one reading this have experience with BMW vs the knockoff stuff?

lots of information on this forum, i dont think you are going to see much of a difference between oem vs replica once it's installed.

i would say just go with replica and save your cash for other mods, also it would hurt a little less if you scrape them which you will most likely do

Bought CS spoiler from Kies Motorsports for 1/3 of the cost of OEM CS, no way I could tell the difference, looks great.

It's hit and miss with the fitment. With the BMW stuff you at least know the weave won't be all fucked, the fitment will be at least 9.5/10, etc. I've bought replica carbon mirrors which could not be installed on the car due to shitty fitment - they wouldn't even snap into place.

some people don't care about getting real and well-made carbon fiber and certainly it's almost impossible to tell from a distance. Personally I have tried both ways and I won't buy the cheap stuff again.

Call me a snob but only high quality parts go on my car. To me, that means OEM M Performance or a high quality alternative brands such as RKP.

How do you define high quality? Price?

Testimonials from folks on here, reputable brands with good reputations, my own eye for cutting through marketing and seeing actual engineering and quality control.

If you are insinuating that these parts usually command a higher price, you'd be correct. And it's absolutely worth it.

So you bought your car for other people to look at? I would get pissed off every time I walked past my shitty fitting diffuser or lob-sided spoiler.

I hear and see so many issues with non OEM (mostly fitment issues), granted there are some good outcomes as well, however why risk it, spend a little more and get the for sure thing, just my 2 cents..

BMWPARTSPROS.com or PARTS@STBMW for forum discounts on all
oem if you are interested

high quality = good fitment, weave that is straight even with the lines of the piece, use of actual carbon fiber instead of some other substitute, a perfectly even clear coating that is also straight and evenly applied on the edges, and also not using excess material. In my experience parts from OEM and 3D Design have all these properties, and the cheap / "reasonably priced" stuff generally do not

Do it right and pay a little more. you will buy the ebay stuff it will be ok at first but it will bug you later on. Now you have a part that's not worth anything second hand. OEM, 3D design and Status Gruppe (US) are the only companies using pre-preg CF for the parts for these cars.

nope; just doesn't bother me. all my ebay parts fit perfectly. maybe off a hair here and there. my spoiler and side skirts are a perfect fit. CF mirror caps go on 99% of the way. lips are expendable; so why buy OEM.

Simply making the point that imo its crazy to drop 5k on mods when I can come by and steal your CF mirror caps in less than 30 seconds. But to each their own. I personally don't care that much about my car; I might have when I first ordered it out of college; but its just an object... A lot of the poor fitment issues(like SCH) are blown up on this fourm by people who stand to profit off selling parts. just my 2 cents.

OP:
1. Ebays paypal seller protection is bulletproof if you have fitment issues.
2. buy off the classifieds on this fourm
3. buy OEM; if your that anal about 100% fitment

happy modding everyone.

Buy replicas. Without a doubt. For 5 reasons:

1. A full exterior kit (lip, diffuser, side skirts, spoiler, and mirror caps) is going to cost about 6k more than a high quality replica
2. Those OEM BMW parts won't add much value when you try to sell the car so you'd be better off taking them off and attempting to sell them individually. With replica pieces you can afford to leave them on the car when you sell
3. If they get stolen or damaged it's not that big of a deal
4. They really don't look that much different. Obviously if you look really close you could tell with most replicas but I personally don't look that closely.
5. You can easily get a tune, downpipes, springs, spacers, and have money left over with how much you'll save

eBay for the front lip. Who tf is getting that close to the bottom of your car to know it's a lower quality part. Plus the front lip is the most likely piece to get damaged.

OEM or other high quality parts for everything else.
