2014 X5 NBT Nav Update?

Couple of questions: I just learned I can't easily update the Nav software myself, like the other software we get from the BMW. I can buy the USB but I need an FSC code which is supposed to be pretty $$. What's BMW going to charge to do it?

If I do update it, will it finally let me use my Toll pass instead of always leading me to toll booths? This is one of the most irritating parts of this BMW nav system. (FWIW, even with my old '06 Odyssey, I could buy the Nav DVD to update it myself and utilize Toll pass option. That Nav system was a lot more user-friendly than the current BMW one I have)

(I'll be trading it in for the 2020 whenever it's available, however I want it updated anyway.) Thanks!

Thanks for the info. Jw, how it's used and did you update your Nav yourself?

I did it myself. When you plug the usb into the port, it'll ask you for the fsc code. It's really easy. Just have to download the files and put it on a usb drive. Took me about 30-45 minutes.

You can get a FSC code online or generate it yourself. It only updates the map database.

For functionality differences, I think that requires an ISTEP update, though I don't think there is a difference as I have the latest update and it still navigates to toll booths sometimes, though I look at the road signs when I drive; I only use navigation guidance as a secondary guide.

I am thinking about the same. What are other options available to generate FSC code on my own? Thanks

Can try asking help from fellow forumer here as well. Shawn has been very helpful.

I bought off from eBay seller as well last night both FSC code and map. Works great tho somehow my KAFAS fail to scan the road marker lines today, i wonder why.

This thread has everything you need. I just updated my friend's 2014 F15 with 2022-1 maps and was able to generate a lifetime fsc code.

Smile 2014 bmw x5

Hi everyone. So i was able to create a lifetime FSC code for my maps update. I bought OBD cable from amazon for F series, had Esys installed and tried all the instructions available in this post:

https://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1526116

I was able to create FSC code and installed the map update with a USB drive.
The only issue i had was when updating the Navigation Map it kept on saying invalid code. I generated fsc code many times and it was the same. At one point i was frustrated thinking that i am doing something wrong.

I entered the same code too many times and it gave me invalid code every time. In the end a message appeared on my screen to enter code to start navigation. I was not even able to start navigation as it was stuck asking for code.

I left it there went for a drive for 2 hours, as i had to go somewhere. After coming back got into the car and went through the whole process to generate the FSC code again.

I did some changes this time. Refer to this link.

https://www.6post.com/forums/showthr...526116&page=11

I added the code provided in the post to the lookup file as described in the link. But when i got back into the car to try it.

To my surprise when i inserted USB it didnt even asked me for any code and staretd update itself. Took around half an hour to update it and now it shows that i have the latest Map update.

No sure how everything turned out but it worked. In a day or two i will be able to see the changes. Hopefully its updated to the latest version. Fingers crossed. Cheers. Let me know if anyone has questions. Will be happy to help.
