varying Ethanol mixture running BM3 E85 tunes
I use a C. Jordan E85 tune.
Here in so cal I've tested a few stations/brands of E85 fuel and always find just a tick above 85% ethanol. I went to AZ recently and found 2 of their stations' E85 (flex fuel) contain 55% ethanol. Locales told me that's normal. will this cause issues because it goes beyond the range in which my ECU can adjust? I stayed out of heavy boost till I refueled near home.

From Cary's FAQ:
"Our custom calibrations do have some wiggle-room built into them for instances where your local E85’s ethanol content changes, but nothing less than E60-70 should be used if tuned for full-E85, for instance." |

AZ E85 has been regulated to E50, so that's normal for AZ. The car should be fine for the most part, but no one knows the exact parameters (e.g. AFR target, advanced timing, etc) on your custom E85 tune.
You can play it safe and flash the free BMS E85 BEF to get you back to California. This will put you at stock boost all while being able to run (fully tested) E50-E85 fuel content without any sputtering. If you go this route, just remember to send a thank you note to Terry@BMS for making his E85 tune free to the general public. |

I still have a JB4 connected just set to MAP 0.
I can flash that map using BM3? I didn't know that....

I'll be working on a DIY for it soon, so people won't have to pay for a custom tune just to get a taste of full E85. The same E85 BEF map is the one used to set the stock turbos 1/4 mile record of 10.2@135mph... |

I'm assuming one would have to request this BMS e85 BEF tune via the BM3 app. If so, what tuner do we make the request to?

Don't forget to mention the 10.2@135 also has GUTTED interior, 40-60lbs lighter exhaust for DRAGY ONLY, FULL METH via different injections, Full E85 with Jb4 on all the boost 28psi+ , tons of mods (Upgraded Top Mount Intercooler, HeatExchanger, Super Sticky Drag Radials) far from a normal daily driven setup I know him personally. It is still hard to believe a stock turbo going down 10.2 either way as everything points to otherwise. For ex. (Fastest Stock Block Car) 10.2@138mph ** Fastest Stock Turbo Full E85 Flash Only with Full Interior ran 10.6 Last but not least, the E85 BEF was copied from Cary and Paul's E85 logs. Same car were going 60-130 in the 7's until they kept asking certain users of Cary or Paul for logs to see their timing and AFR immediately terry mimicked the same and better results came. So yea you can get a Free E85 BEF but for what when you pay for a Custom Tune it will be OVERALL BETTER for the car and drivability is tweaked! Its a Free canned tune probably no reason for you to bother with at all unless you know what you're doing (careful as it carry a certain software version that might be incompatible with your rom)

FSociety It certainly doesn't help OP's case, but man, that's a long post over something trivial!
At the end of the day, a WR is a WR, whether the car ran in full trim, a 1/8 tank of fuel, four less lug bolts, empty washer fluid reservoir, or with a passenger seat removed. Going fast in a 1/4 mile is about knowing what to do with the available resources. FWIW, we're still comparing an OTS tune versus a custom tune. For the money, the custom tune better be able to keep up or outperform a free OTS/Knockoff/Junk "Burger King" tune... P.S. Rest in Paradise @ezhamco!
