"Marrying" Electronics?

Good Evening,

If I want to pull parts from one car for another, namely electronics and modules, do I need to divorce them from the donor car and marry them in the car receiving them? Namely adding a HUD and backup camera from one car to another.

The parts can live in sin, you just need to recode certain parts to the new vehicle, depending to the level of options already on both vehicle.

So if one vehicle did not have the options for HUD and a backup cam but had a parts car that did, so I need to divorce from the parts car or anything and then marry to the new car or just simply coding in the new car?

I remember in Saabs (prior to GM), if you yanked someone's radio without divorcing it, it was a useless brick...couldn't be coded again....

So I take it that with a laptop I shouldn't have any issues swapping electronics from one car to another....
