Replacing BMW MPE with something else..

Please excuse the newbie question. I've been doing a lot of reading on the site, but I'm just learning about all of this stuff.

I just purchased a used 2016 M4 F83 with a BMW M Performance Exhaust. The MPE has a crack in the side and is not covered under warranty, but the seller is helping me pay for a replacement. I don't want to get another BMW MPE, since even the dealer has said it will probably just happen again.

I'd really like to get an exhaust that uses the valve control system, since I occasionally have to work late at night and don't want to wake up the neighbors.

It seems that many of the exhaust systems are designed to replace the standard factory exhaust, but I have the MPE. Can someone point me in the right direction? Am I just looking for an F83 compatible Catback?

You can get another MPE, but just make sure it has the extra brackets on the sides. Almost all the MPE from BMW at this point have those brackets.

I heard good things about Arkapovic. I def would do Arka if I dont have the MPE.

Would repairing the MPE be out of the question?

pretty sure u can weld the crack on the MPE and maybe weld in some Brackets. Would be MUCH cheaper than replacing it

Thanks for the replies.

I spoke with 3 different shops and they all suggested that welding was a temporary fix at best. I'm so sick of the rattle that I'm ready to pay to make it go away for good.

I found this great post showing the difference between the piping on the stock exhaust versus the MPE.

Leaning toward the Akrapovic Evolution as the full titanium and quality are big factors to me after dealing with the MPE.

Not sure if vert is compatible with it, but if it was my money, the only aftermarket cat back I would consider is ark dt-s:

There are a lot of aftemarket exhausts that use the OEM valve controller. In all of those products, you will be transferring the OEM the valve controller to your new exhaust system. They range from cheaper Magnaflow Exhausts, to the beautiful Arkapovic exhausts.

Start here to check out some exhaust information. https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=948153

If you're worried about cold start volume and neighbors, you can just get a tune and have the cold start turned off.
