Talking REMUS Exhaust + Active Autowerke Midpipe & Stock Downpipe - Install & Sound Clips

We just installed the REMUS axle back on the shop's M4 and as expected it sounds amazing. Car has stock downpipes & Active Autowerke midpipe.

This video quickly reviews the REMUS exhaust packaging and finish quality. At the end of the video we have sound clips of different settings.

we show 2 different settings:

1-valves open, burble set to max loudness & duration (the most aggressive setting on Bootmod3)
2-valves closed, no burble (quietest setting)

Users can easily adjust the burble tune to make it quieter and/or shorter using BM3.

Hope you enjoy the video, and let me know if you are interested in a video with balanced burble settings.

this is as good as it gets on the s55 from a sound and looks perspective. it's a tight note. stock quiet in efficient.

the only downside is it really requires an aftermarket diffuser to get the rear proportions right as their smallest exhaust tip is still noticeably larger than akra's which works with the factory cf diffuser.

....and the cost. However I agree, this really is as good as you can get for sound on this platform.

I might have to go this route, that sounds great. It's probably a stretch but does anyone have any clips of the remus muffler section paired up to stock mid-pipes with the secondary cats replaced with mufflers?

That actually sounds pretty good (minus the max burbles) and very very similar to my Akra slip on with the secondary cats replaced with magnaflow resonators.

Yeah the burbles sound horrible, but the rest is very promising. Any chance you could send me a clip of your current setup?

If you get the chance feel free to just DM them to me if you don't want to make a thread about it. I totally understand the sound not being a good representation shared this way, I just want to get an idea. Thanks dude

Thanks for sharing the video. I searched around and found Remus has a sport exhaust and a race exhaust for F80/F82. Which exhaust is in the video? Thanks.

I believe it’s the sport. Basically the axelback version.

Mike, the CG Precision VSC-2 pairs wonderfully with this. The valves are tight shut in the mornings and always open in the daytime. Looking forward to adding downpipes and BM3 very soon. I also going to add a 100 cell race cat on the AA mid to reduce the smell like the AA Signature exhaust does

I think you are referring to the midpipe.
Sport would probably be the resonated midpipe, race is the non-res midpipe.

This setup is not using REMUS midpipe, i used Active Autowerke instead

Will this bolt to the AA midpipe? I had to cut the MPE connecting pipes to accommodate the AA midpipe. Curious on the price. Can you pm me price shipped to 19382. Might consider it if my MPE cracking issue isn’t resolved.

Thanks.

Great video and truly the best sound from the S55!

Any tricks to prevent the curved AA pipe from making contact with the diff support?

Dropping the Remus to its lowest setting helps but it opens up a big gap between the tips and the diffuser.

Add washers under the 6 bolts for the plate. That spaces it out. That's pretty standard with the AA mid-pipe. I think I had to use 3 for each bolt.

TY although I'm actually referencing further back in the system. I've never had any trouble with the support bracket clearance - mine is up against the differential mount at the back of the diff.

I have the AA midpipe and issue there. Not sure why yours is touching. You can rotate the AA midpipe a bit to move it away from the differential.

I appreciate the reply. It's this pipe in this location touching that bracket on the top side of the pipe. It's funny because I wouldn't have even known about it but BMW recently replaced my driveshaft under recall and pointed it out to me. They tried to adjust it to get clearance but couldn't see how it would, and I spent about 3 hours on my back attempting the same with very minimal improvement. Ended up tapping it flat in one spot with a ball peen hammer to get about 1/8" clearance - i.e., not much.
