Evolve / BootMod3 / Custom Dyno Tune?

Hey,

Just about to sell my F30 330D and replace it with a 2016 M4 DCT.

I wanted to remap the car as I have done before on most of my cars. In the past I've always used the same tuner, who mapped my F30 on a rolling road via the OBD and it's been great. He's a good tuner and does a variety of cars but in no way a BMW specialist.

Now I'm getting the M4 I had planned on taking it to him to get it mapped. He'll charge approx £350.00 and get the car to approximately 514BHP via a OBD map on a rolling road again. However I've seen the GTS gearbox flash and GTS exhaust burbles which I'm keen on which I'm not sure he'll be able to offer.

However I've now seen the alternative of getting an Evolve stage 1 remap as they have a local dealer to me. This would cost around £599.00 and an additional £199.00 for the GTS Gearbox flash. Now I'm not sure how beneficial this would be over getting the custom remap I was planning on getting. With the Evolve map you can choose the GTS exhaust burble and startup which is ideal and I'm assuming they've put a lot of time and effort into this map.

My last alternative is BootMod3 which seems ideal, my only reservation is I really don't to cock anything up. I'm pretty good with tech stuff but I've done some research but can't see much about the safety factor of it as if I did mess something up I'd be stuck with having to pay someone a lot to sort it out? I tried to see if there was anyone who could install this for me in the South West but can't find anyone. I know it's easy to do but wanted to have a backup if anything went wrong.

My main question is considering I want very few problems but want the exhaust burble / GTS gearbox flash what would you think would be my best option? Has anyone got an Evolve map or have any comparison vs your standard tuner or vs BootMod3?

Cheers!

Hi mate.

Alex on this forum will do the GTS steering, gearbox and differential software for much less than that. Shoot him a PM and he will remote in and do it for you. 199 pounds seems a little overpriced to me.

As far as the software flash goes, I'd be inclined to go with your guy. Doesn't really need to be a BMW specialist to be fair - sound like he's a good solid tuner that will optimise a tune on the dyno - can't get much better than that.

Off the shelf tunes are good but if I had access to an excellent tuner with dyno optimisation, it would be my choice.

+1

I get customers asking me to charge them for BM3 install all the time. I just laugh and tell them to try it first on their own and if they cant do it i'll be more than happy to do it for them for free. I never had a single customer who failed to do it by themselves

I almost went with Evolve, luckily I stumbled upon BM3. Flashed it myself, in fact flashed it 5 times since then. All for different maps and configurations. It's quite easy and straightforward actually. Just follow the instructions.
Gonna flash my buddy's car tonight (since I have the cable).
Give it a try, this is the fun in modding.
