Strut accordion things disintegrating?

Not sure what these are called, but most every car brand has black plastic accordion-like things at the top of each strut that cover the exposed polished strut rod. Today I removed my wheels for the first time in the year since I bought my car and discovered that they are already disintegrated at 32,000 miles. The rear ones are almost comical. They cracked at every seam or fold, so now they look like a bunch of free-floating black onion rings around the strut. Ridiculous on a $116,000 car. The fronts just tore in half in one spot. Car is CPO for two more months, but such things are excluded from CPO. Just wondered if it's a known issue.

It is called a dust boot and is meant to protect the strut shaft and seal from the elements. There aftermarket replacements available online.

Yeah, I knew what is was for, and even OEM is not expensive, but what a pain just to to that. It's just stupid that they feel apart that bad so soon.
