Any tips for DP to Turbo V Band?

I am having issues with getting the V-band bolt started, I can't get enough squeeze on it to get the bolt started. Getting really frustrated and this is on the rear one where there is actually a little room to work. The front one is going to be a nightmare.

disregard, just went back to the stock clamps and they went on 1st try. Something is off with the replacement ones that came with the VSRF pipe.
