Spun Crank Hub; Fixed by SSR Performance

Update* Dyno results below.

Hey guys so i just recently went through the whole ordeal of the well known spun crank hub issue and would like to share my experience with SSR Performance in Orange County, CA.

3 weeks ago I had got the drivetrain malfunction while doing logs on a newly uploaded full E85 map.

Original thread link here ---> https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1595130

Took a few days to decide on what to do. Was either bring it to the dealer and possibly waiting weeks or months just to get my warranty voided, or find a shop that can get my car back on the road asap. After making a few calls, I decided to go with SSR Performance in California. Without even contacting them, Shah who is the owner, reached out to me after getting word of my troubles. This is when i ultimately decided that SSR was the shop that i would send my car to.

For me, communication is key. And it gave me a good indication of the type of people that will be handling my car. Without having to ask, i was given the whole list of parts that would be replaced, and how they would proceed with the diagnostics, repair, and installation of the Maximum PSI crank hub with all necessary gaskets and hardware. What I loved most was the daily updates, pictures and videos that was sent. I dropped off my car on a day that they were closed, and sent someone to receive my car.

They got started with my car on a Monday, and got a call that my car was done on Friday. Also received a great deal for a set of polished SSR charge pipes. All I can say is those guys are phenomenal to work with. If you guys need anything done, i highly recommend them.

Good to hear, I've heard great things about SSR. After spinning, no damage was done to the valvetrain or pistons correct?

Seams to be a pattern developing with this E85 fuel, if you dont get the mix right, this would throw the timing out?

Yes nothing was bent. They did inspect it too for compression and stuff. I got the malfuction while cruising at 50mph so that's probably why the engine was okay. Was told timing was off by 22.5 degreee.

Not sure. I'm full e85. Seems like hub just slipped.

I appreciate you sharing your referral with an honest write-up.

I've already dealt with a couple of Socal vendors who are all coke and a smile when they're ready to take your money, but if you make any type of request of them after funds have transferred, they get latent or quiet along the comm front aka DJ no clue operation. If you'd so indulge us, pls continue to keep us posted.

Wishing you many trouble-free miles ahead!

It's a lot longer than 8 to 12.

Max PSI with the drilling is generally around 25-27 hours... Without dropping the oil pan.

Vargas is about 22-24 hours
