Coding apps
Hello,
I'm new to BMW coding and I'm coming from Audi. I did a search for this but not really understanding what I need since Carly isn't as popular as Bimmercode. There are a lot more options for BMWs than Audis. I'm between 2 coding apps and I need some help undertanding them. Looking at the Carly and Bimmercode. I see Bimmercode is very popular and from what I have seen, it has more options. Where Carly gets my attention is service resets and brake servising. Do I need those 2 for my M4? Also, I see the Bimmercode is about $20 for the OBD plug and $27 for the app. Is the $27 a one time fee? The Carly is $82 for the OBD adapter + $57 for the app?!?!? Thanks |

$27 is one time fee and you can use it with as many cars as you want.
The OBD adapter you can buy off Amazon. It's the same one that Carly would use IIRC. If you don't plan on doing your own servicing, you don't need the reset capability. The service reset can be done without a tool as well, just search in this site. |

I use bimmercode with the unicarscan adaptor or e-sys software, you don’t need apps for resetting CBS maintenance jobs:
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...nance/1LiqKi85 I have the carly adapter but I still have the try it, I even forgot I had it until I read your post. |

Can you send me the link for the unicarscan adaptor you are using? On the bimmercode website it's $80+
I'm a newbie with coding and just trying to get mirror folding and the warning gone on my idrive |

I use this one with BimmerCode - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Don't think it's usable for E-Sys (maybe coz I don't have BT on my ancient windows laptop). |

Got the Bimmercode and there isn't much use for it on mine. Don't know if it is because the options my car came with or because it is a 2019. Now in my wife's X1, I was able to do a few things more.

Thank guys. Well coding experience was only ok. I got the Veepeak OBD and although my coding went well, now I'm getting errors that instrument dash didn't have the current time or date and most importantly my album art via Bluetooth Spotify is blank.
I still get the album art when I connect via usb but I really loved the album art via Bluetooth. I have a 2015 m4 idrive 5.0 I believe. I had this problem when I first got the car but it was fix when I got my dealership to update my software.... Every though I restored my backup for head unit and idrive changes... still no album art. Please help! So frustrated -well Bimmercode customer service solved my issue. I just needed to unpair my phones Bluetooth and then repair it. Album art is back! So relieved |

I only did the video in motion with my radio....which didn't do anything other than enable me to plug in a USB stick but can't watch movies while moving.
I had the same issue with the date setting. Just go in the iDrive and enter it even if it is right. It will clear the message. I also have the same issue with the album art but it doesn't bother me and I thought it was just Pandora acting up as it has happened before. Will look into it. |

I feel like you can't really do too much with these apps for our cars. If you really want to do more, you'll need a cable and laptop.
Unless you have multiple BMWs, I don't think it's worth it. |

Top 3: - Disable active sound (I hated it) - Enable iDrive 6 lite interface via expert mode (I love flat tile interfaces) - Disable iDrive warnings (I curbed my front wheel because I didn't see that it blocked the area I needed to see!) Then you can also play with comfort access stuff, DIY rear fog (expert mode), etc. |
