Some Basic BM3 Questions

Hey guys. I’ve been doing a lot of reading on tunes and fairly confident I will probably roll with bm3 but had a few questions..sorry if any of these seem dumb:

1. Does bm3 offer other coding options you see with a tune such as Aloine...side mirrors closing, disabling active sound, lighting adjustments etc.

2. Will bmw know the car was tuned if it’s tuned back to stock before taking it in? Or do they have to “search” the computer to know the car was tuned.

3. For E85, is anything outside of the tune needed? Also, what’s the proper ratio? 4 gallons e85 and 11 or so 91 or 93?

That’s all I can think of right now. Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi,
BM3 does not offer any coding

As long as you go back to stock before your visit you should be fine but it depends on whats wrong with the car and how deep they want to search to catch you

They mentioned a few times they might be adding some common coding options but I think they got busy with making other features in the meantime

Im also very interested how factory warranty work will look with BM3. Also, are aftermarket warranties easier to fool with stuff like this?

It's recommended you remove the tune and lock the DMEs if going in for warranty work.

BM3 offers Stage 2 E30 tune. I would upgrade the Chargepipe and Downpipes to get the full potential. I normally use 5 gallons max on my F80 M3. I can help with your Bootmod3, since we are in the same area. We also have a nice F8x Crew! PM Me!

Tom,

Yes i have heard that but i dont think i fully understand the term "lock the ecu". Also, even after i flash it back to stock amd "lock" it, is it still detectable at that point?

yes, still detectable if bmw digs deep enough but not readily apparent when you're just going in for service
