Can I use a Mac?

Hey gents,

Quick question here. F80 m3 DCT and trying to get all the gts goodies.

I'm told I need windows to do it right and I just have a Mac with an enet port.

My question is..... do you know if running virtual windows on my Mac through like a VirtualBox or online method would be sufficient for what I'm trying to do?

Thanks much

You are going to need a lot more than a Mac, ethernet port and an ENET cable to get all the GTS goodies such as the water injection, CFRP hood and many more

But in short yes it is possible to run a VM in Mac running Windows and use software to connect to the car, there might be some fiddling with the erhernet interface(s) to get it to work but this should be a no-brainer.

I’m running on 2013 MacBook Air with external SSD with Windows 10. Most Ethernet/USB adapters will work. I bought mine from Amazon

Software runs in windows environment. This can be native or virtual.

Did mine with boot camp (free Apple software) and signing up for a windows insider account which gives you a free download of the latest windows 10 beta version. The windows installation takes ~40GB and the coding files take up quite a few themselves. If you ever want to install ISTA+ to access the service functions of your BMW like reading codes and resetting sensors, that takes up quite a bit of room too. I'd recommend at least 80GB for the windows partition.

Sure, you can either dual boot it with windows or running a Virtual Machine.

I'd say you have to prepare 100gb of storage for this program, since:

ISTA-D took about 20gb
ISTA-P took about 80gb (optional, me personally dont use this because i have esys)
Esys took about 80gb including the FULL psdzdata which is required for flashing

Goodluck on your coding and flashing journey mate
