Openflash Tablet: On-Track Testing. Videos, data, logs, and more
We've been a bit quiet lately, but mostly because we've been doing a LOT of testing with our off-the-shelf tune files. Copious amounts of on-track testing, and much more road testing and refinement.
For now I will leave you with some teaser photos, but we'll be back to post logs, data, and and additional insights soon! The M3 and the M5 really come alive on-track with an ECU tune, and little to no mods. Out OTS mapping is proving itself over and over again to be safe and reliable for us and our customers even when the engine/trans/chassis are being pushed to their limits. Some prep - brakes and tires on the 458 The drive down - no trailers today - "Off to Thunderhill Raceway for Openflash M2C/AMG GTS testing and to do some professional coaching for our customers, and friends! M3 On Track - Owner Chris L. - He did great for a self proclaimed rookie! Some notes from Chris himself: "Tons of fun had at Driveclub’s private track day. Even more awesome to get some ride-along coaching from the gentleman that tuned my car (Shiv Pathak*of*OpenFlash Performance Inc.)! Pretty cool that my first time riding in a Ferrari was on a race track*. Peep the last shot - it’s what happens when a rookie gets real ambitious.**@ Thunderhill Raceway" M5 On Track. Some serious suspension compression on the M5 Let it rotate 2 sessions at Laguna Seca in MDM mode cooked the rear brakes. The rear brakes were in use continously to eliminate wheelspin when exiting corners and blasting down the straights. 750bhp and wet track surface meant that the rear brakes were put through hell! New pads installed and ready for more testing tomorrow. Uh ohh -- on track warnings M2C on track -- This thing in stock form is a dream. Since its suspension is tuned for street use from the factory, it left only a little to be desired on-track. But that is really saying something about BMW's chassis development over the last few years -- they're getting their Mojo back. [fbv]10217931822469242[/fbv] https://www.facebook.com/shivhappens...7931822469242/ More about this car, the tune to come. OFT AMG -- I mean, just check the plate. #streetCarOnTrack. |

Yes that sounds great and all but you’re leaving existing customers in the dark.
You reached out to me over two weeks ago that you have a new file for me that apparently fixed my burbles and I will get it in two or three days. Well it’s almost 2 weeks and I got nothing. Multiple text messages and no replies. Seems that you guys dropped from the face of the earth. It’s either you bit too much than you can chew or existing customers aren’t worth $hit to you. I got my tune in what...September? Still don’t have a file that I’m happy with. Granted I’m not as persuasive about it as others and stock tune is still okay with me, but when I’m promised something and it’s not delivered then I feel cheated. And it’s not the first time it happened... |

...but hey, look on the bright side, while you wait, you can check random threads like this where Shiv gets to humble-brag his Ferrari that your OFT purchase helped pay for. |

Good for you. I wanted to suggest BM3 as soon as I saw you post this but thought better of it. I've heard one too many stories like this about OFT. My question is: Why is BP allowing this vendor to provide substandard service with impunity? Seems as though OFT's vendor status should be under review or can do treat customers however you want so long as you pay your vendor fees?

Don't think so but you can apply boost reduction for similar end result it seems.
Neither BPM nor Alpine offer standard flat torque tunes... can't fathom why not.

I asked for a more aggressive burble / exhaust tune to go along with my existing OFT tune. numerous messages on here and posts and emails but nothing back. I gave up. Had 3 people wanted to see how mine worked out and probably buy the OFT system but they've since gone BM3 which is where I think I need to be. Lack of support has let these guys down. All well and good saying 'ooh look at me in my Ferrari' but it doesn't help those who helped fund that Ferrari.
Never mind. We live and learn.

No replies since mid-Feb.... but this is the only tune that does not require catless downpipes to acheive stage 2 numbers on the market. The OTS v1.2 tune runs well on my m6 though

Curious on how this situation is going regards the vendor and comms?

Even the 2+ from Alex delivers power extremely well compared to some of the other in the equivalent tune outputs (e.g. stage 1 VF etc which I had previous), the delivery is applied slightly later and more progressively in the rev range. I really considered this Open flash tuning with what they talked.... after all the dust has settled I'll be staying with the Alex tune through the ownership if it stays as a daily driver. P.S. this isn't a plug for the tune I currently have, it just works if you're after a daily driving set and forget solution. |

Stay away. They’re crap and a huge scam.
They will take your money and will NOT respond to you. Not sure why BP allows them on this forum. |

My number one thing after living with the VF tune was drivability followed by simplicity in the next tune due to my vehicle usage, that's why I chose what I did in the end. |

us early adopters received multiple tunes, multiple attempts at fixing the bugs, messages and maps on weekends, so i wouldn't call it a scam tbh i have stopped pushing anthony from my end as i decided to see if other platforms had the same burble anomalies - and they did yes response to owners of their product could be better than it was on first release, but that's all that needs to be said |

Now I'm left with a tune that's no good and no way to make it better. I paid money for it and got close to nothing in return. When was the last time someone has heard from them on the forum? |

This is the hard thing about the business model OFT chose. Since they're not in the business of selling tunes (their words, not mine), they really don't owe you any support without some kind of support contract. They're selling the tablets with a promise of support, but it's pretty unsustainable if it's only 2 people supporting all customers' tunes. So you're left with whatever you can get out of them. |

I thought people were already warning everyone that this was going to happen before they even came out with the product?
I just don't understand why bother with another tune when BM3 has been proven and tested for the S55 platform.

If it were solely BM3 for the S55 you wouldn't have nearly the advanced product you have now. I have OFT and have had my issues with them but Anthony has been pretty killer to deal with for the most part. I'm going to put in for my V2 maps and see where this goes. |
