Testing F82 Vanos and Camshaft positions, help plz.

Good Afternoon,

Just curious of something and hoping I can get some help.. In order to test the Vanos and Camshaft positions in real time, is INPA my best bet? I only found one version of INPA that supports Fxx and it doesn't really specify if it's F80/F82's so I didn't want to spend too much time on searching for a working version if there was an easier route.. Someone else mentioned ISTA/P is the place to go for this type of diagnostic, but just want to see what you guys suggest.

Thank you!

ISTA/P would be for programming and coding
The programs from BMW have changed recently for the ISTA setups.
But to answer your question, yes the BMW ISTA or Autologic could both assist you from my experience.
I have not tried any other diagnostic tools myself

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it.. And I remember on INPA there was a way to watch the vanos operation live, and see the variances and what not, but that was on an e90 335i. Someone else mentioned that the F30 and F80 shared a bunch of the same technology, but engine diagnostics are obviously quite different.
