vin decoder

is it possible for the vin to say a car is manual, but its actually double clutch transmission? I pulled a vin# for a car I would like to purchase in north york and it comes up as manual transmission. The salesman went to check again and swears its automatic they bought it at a dealership in Montreal there telling me.

Can the salesman send you a picture of the interior to be 100% certain?

The cars with DCT will always be shown as manual transmission because it IS a manual double clutch system...

At the list below it is specified as double clutch transmission...

I work in the auto industry. There are a lot of discrepencies with trim levels, equipment etc, when you use multiple platforms like Carfax, warranty creation platforms, Autotrader etc. They don't collect data from the same database - they're close but not perfect. Your most reliable source if you are equipped with the full VIN is to either call the Business Manager, or Service Dept, or even directly with manufacturer. The sales guy is not often the best source for this info. Like Shadowmak says it might show manual on some systems for DCT, and automatic in others.

Just call a bmw dealer in Laval or Montreal, with the vin they will be able to send you by email the complete equipment of the car, so you'll know exactly what package and options the car you are looking for have.

It takes 5 minutes to get it and you'll be 100% sure that the option are really on the car
