M4 Custom Wireless Charging?

Hey guys-

‘15 F82 6MT

Got tired of the wire and with the new iPhone decided to yank the center console (and cup holders) out with intentions of putting a wireless charging in the ash tray. Ordered a cheap wireless charger (clear disk) from Amazon and took the coil out of it to glue to underside of the tray. However, it’s got to be within about a 1/4” or so to work and after vary testing, I can’t get it close enough to get the phone to start charging. Anyone either have a better spot or recommend a charger- I would place the phone (iPhone Xs) in the cup holder of this charger would work for that but no go either.

Ps- I’ve done this in my other cars- Saab Aero, Tahoe LTZ (last gen), and a few of my classics (‘70 Spyder and OLD Jeep) in well-hidden areas but this car is not playing nice.

Also, anyone know what why this is a rubber band instead of something that won’t rot in a few years?!? -the one holding the duct work I think.

You don't need to take out vent tunnel.

This is inside the center console. I wanted the charger up either in the cup holders or the ash tray (just in front of the cup holders. The center console is a super easy install but thanks.
