3M Clearbra installed at Detailing Dynamics
I don't want to repost all the images again so please follow this link to see the great job the guys at Detailing Dynamics did.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=157315 After doing a lot of research 3M is the absolute best. Ventureshield scratches easily and the glue is not of very good quality. I saw several examples of 3M and Ventureshield before deciding that 3M is the way to go. Last edited by ihyln; 07-18-2008 at 07:24 AM.. |

Not sure I agree with this as I am a 3M owner myself on a white car and it has yellowed. Not only that, but it has a lot of orange peel. These are 2 common complaints about 3M that I absolutely concur with because I'm living with it right now. Everyone shop I spoke with that sells both recommends the Venture Shield. But hey, to each his own, glad you are happy with what you got...

The yellowing depends on the color of the car with white being the worst. For white I'd actually go with VentureShield over 3M but any other color 3M is a better tradeoff. But as far as orange peel goes since it's already part of BMW's paint it doesn't bother me at all. However, I have a warranty with DD so any problems will be fixed by them including yellowing.

I was told that after a fresh install the lines will be quite obvious for a while and will ultimately blend in. They won't disappear 100% but it won't be as obvious.

Did Matt say he did an Interlagos Blue sedan a week ago?
I can see the line when I know where to look, but it's still much more preferable than rock chips. In major urban areas rock chips are simply unavoidable.

Yup, he did in fact. Was that you? They will do VS on your car if you ask for it. I saw samples of it where the owner, Matt, had VS on his car (M5, dark color) and it did not really look good. As I've said before, the color of your car makes a big difference. They were completely honest with both the strengths and weaknesses of VS and 3M. If you are still undecided check out the owners car or mine for a comparison.

si senor!
i do my own detailing but i'd probably take the car to DD for wash & wax during the winter. i'd probably try out their car care product once my zaino supply runs out. i love zaino for its durability but the shine seems very clinical--and it's a LOT of work for the shine.
