2015 M3 almost out of warranty-extend or bootmod3

Cheers all. On my 2nd F80 m3 now, 2015 build. Out of 4 year warranty in April. Looking at doing another year or two of Powertrain+ Or just tuning this thing with Bootmod3. I know the SCH bs yeah yeah, I've had two of these cars, and no issues yet. (both 6MT)

It's more a weekend toy, no track, nothing crazy. I'm wondering what my max pain would be if I did get the SCH and a bad case of it. I see s55 motors on ebay for like 9k. Is that the worst case, around 9k+labor etc?

I am seeing most don't need complete motor replacement, but just wondering.

Thanks for your input in helping me make my decision!

PS if you delete the secondary cats with MPE it gets pretty rowdy, haha. Love the platform.

You should delete primary cats with MPE. It's really rowdy.

Go for bm3 and never look back. Just go for a mild tune and you should be fine.

yeah was gonna rock stage 1 for 93.

and yeah I bet it gets too damn rowdy with catless downpipes lol. Secondary cats deleted are fine enough for me. I'm gonna delete cold start with bm3 if I do it, because my new neighbors have like 19 kids under the age of 3. Cool! (shrug)

Mike what's the worst case on a bad SCH.. motor replacement around $9k + labor? Trying to think of WORST case running this M3 out of warranty and tuning it.

LOL i used to tune my cars way before i got into this business .. I actually got into it after i realized how much power a stage 1 BMS tune added to my car stock 328

Its not really fair to look at worst case scenario, since worst case scenario can happen to cars that are 100% stock.

But to answer your question, the chance of damaging a component is close to zero when using Bootmod3 or any proven tune

Lmao. Maybe. You have a 15? Out of warranty soon also, or?

I've had no issues, but just weighing options.

Yes 15, 42k miles, flawess and no issues. Just out of warranty. Everytime I see eBay discount coupon I wanna pull the trigger but the car is fast as it is. I've tracked about 6 times and the car is already too much for me as it is; I'm a novice. More speed is always appealing but I want to get it for the cold start delete as the car is loud as hell with the valves open. Then I think about the SCH, puts me back into reality really quick. This is not a cost that I'm not willing to swallow. We all know the mantra, gotta pay to play. I'm saying this to you now, but I know I will always consider getting a tune. Will power is the only thing preventing me from getting one as the car has been an absolute joy and trouble free.

I say tune the sucker. My ride has 30,000+ miles on it and it has been bulletproof. Not one single issue.

FYI. I floored this car right off the bat. Break in "recommendations". Hahahahaha. Ya right.

Thanks for writing. So are you going to extend warranty and keep it stock? Or maybe not even extend it and still keep it stock, which is a great option also as it seems pretty damn reliable. I agree it is quick enough, but I need the cold start delete too as new neighbors across the street have two small babies. Damnit! Decisions.

I have no plans to extend the warranty. I Will continue to drive it as is and hopefully it remains trouble free. Tune will always be in the back of my mind. I'm sure I'll scratch the itch eventually.
