Nice find. Interesting that it's a left hand drive car in Japan. He was certainly driving on the edge.
Based on the way the tires sounded when they broke loose, it didn't really sound like he was running R compounds, which if true is impressive because he was certainly one of the fastest cars on the circuit.

Hell, I passed a GT2 at Watkins Glen (a horsepower track) multiple times in my mostly stock '98 E36 M3. But that kid couldn't drive the car that daddy bought him at all. In fact he left after the first day of a two day driver's school. I guess he was tired of being embarrassed.

It would be interesting to see what else is changed if it's a track-only car. |

Agreed, I wonder what kind of modifications the car had. It certainly looked very fast around the track, either way.

Wow, nice vid.
Although the Porsche (GT2?) had a higher top end and pulled well, the M3 really gobbled it up in the turns. And yes, I know, maybe the other drivers weren't pushing as hard, but it still was fun to see the passing. And the driver made all the passes seem so routine, like waving to a buddy as you're walking down the sidewalk! I am going to set my stopwatch to this vid and see how his lap times compare to when I'm running the stock M3 in GT5 Prologue (and yes, I know that his is a bit modded, but at least it will give me some sense of comparison). |

I thought it was in the fully reclined position so that it didn't block the camera view of the driver. It looks to me as if you can see the seat bottom of the right seat in the video, although it's hard to tell.

As I always say, track times of cars are for bragging rights and nothing else. 15 even 20 seconds on the ring means very little if the driver isn't as good as the next guy.
So what I am trying to say is though the M3 may be the quicker of all the current cars in it's sector does not necessarily mean you will be the quickest just because you happen to be driving one. |
