Drivetrain malfunction

My sister inlaw just picked up a different model 2018 and got a drivetrain malfunction message. I searched but didn’t find anything recent nor any specific info. I posted in the appropriate forum but thought you guys might have some insight. I swear I remember seeing something recently but it doesn’t come up in search. Thanks.

I'm clueless. Sounds like a trip to the stealership is in order.

This happened to me with my 2013 F10 M5. Ended up being a bad coil with lots of misfires. Might want to have it scanned to see what codes it's firing off.

Thanks for the responses. She took it in, all fixed now. I have no idea what the issue was. I will find out and update.

I've had my 2016 F85 in the shop 3-4 times for this. First it was just an error, then it was a replaced vanos sensor... Eventually I'm expecting an engine replacement.

But before that I'm going to request a buy back / lemon law that sucker.
