Locking mechanism applied on US M3 for headlight adjustment

Hi,

For those with newer US/CA-specs M3 F80 who wants to have Euro Anti-dazzle LED, a locking mechanism (physically) has been applied on M3 since 2017 March 1st with part number 63117489213, two on each side.

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...48#63117489213

EDIT: thanks for @pmooiweer, it seems like this locking mechanism is only used to limit horizontal adjustment which should not affect GFHB, but we do find that part numbers of my LED headlights are different from @pmooiweer 's previous build. My car was built in April 2018 and headlight has 63118738710 revision 01 (right) and 63118738709 revision 01 (left) based on the sticker at the top of headlight, while @pmooiweer told me his and his friend's car have 63117498923 (left) and 63117498924 (right) with build from last year.

Best regards,

The headlights are designed to move with the steering wheel when in automatic setting. I thought the same motors are used in combination with precise dimming of the LEDs to make anti-dazzle possible. Are you positive those plugs are meant to specifically prevent anti-dazzle coding? BMW doesn't seem to acknowledge that aftermarket coding of any kind is possible so I find it odd that they would introduce hardware locking to prevent it.

not 100% sure. but this part does have description of locking headlights adjustment on realoem and bmwetk. and it is only applied on US models after 2017.03.01.

if we can compare the hardware between euro and us specs, we would have a better idea about what change have been made.

Best regards,
These actually are quite significant. Not only do they lock out the horizontal manual alignment, they also limit the range of movement.

Do not attempt to pry these off. There is a special tool to allow safe removal of these as they are designed to be "tamper resistant".
