Driving Thru Mtns late Oct
Rocky Mountain peeps: how risky is driving your F8x on all seasons thru the rockies/I70 last week of Oct - 1st week of Nov?
Concerned about snow storms. thx. |

After mid-Sep, there is always a risk of a freak storm, especially at Eisenhower/Johnson tunnels since they are at the highest point on I70. If you are not in a time crunch, then be prepared to have to spend a night in the Frisco/Dillon area in case of bad weather. CDOT clears the roads fast.
You didn't say which direction you'll be traveling in, but if you're coming from the West, Vail Pass would be your first high point and same can happen there. If you have route flexibility, I would suggest playing it by ear and changing the route if needed, on the day of the travel. There's always the Albuquerque-Phoenix route too. |
