Anyone actually have a warranty issue after coding?
I am seriously considering doing GTS/CS coding on my incoming M3. I am not getting the DCT so a flash is not an option. I understand that even though the tech is in there in the car, coding the steering, rear diff. etc. to GTS or CS may technically be a warranty violation. So, the $64k question is, has anyone actually had a warranty issue after coding?

I haven't heard of anything. Recently had an issue where my car was drifting to the right. Took it to the dealer for alignment. They said it was still pulling. Had issues updating my software on my car, asked if I coded it (had GTS coding recently before) I said no, they said ok, and force coded the car back to stock. No warranty issues or flags. Drove the car back to my tuner shop, and they recoded GTS back on, car drives fine now.

Good to know thank you for responding, I think I am going to go this once I have had the car for a little while.

I would have loved to have this conversation with my regular tech, he's definitely more on the old school side of things, so road tests with him in the car to go over an issue are always amusing. My first experience with him in the F80 was getting told to turn up my music to reduce the effect of the rattle in the door (somewhat being sarcastic, but only somewhat). He practically dailies an E28 M5, though, so I just bow down and apologize.

There is a conversion within ista-p to fix a pulling issue.

In rare cases coding that requires a VO change can raise issues at service departments.
Had a buddy in an X4 who had 6NS added and he needed a new head unit - coverage was denied initially because VO was mismatched. Otherwise no. (at least not AFAIK) |
