Do I need a Windows computer for Coding?
Hello everyone, I'm new here so this question might seem very newbie (because I am) but is the Windows operating system needed for coding and or ODB flash tunes? Cheers!

Yes, unless you use a phone/tablet app (such as Bimmercode or Carly for BMW) for coding. Most OBD flash tunes either come with a coding module to use in place of a laptop or they require Windows.

If you have a recent Mac, you can use boot camp (free, comes with Mac OS) to boot windows 10 on a separate HD partition. If you sign up for a windows insider account you can DL a free copy of the latest beta version of Windows 10. This worked for me in early July. I was able to install the latest versions of the coding software that can be found elsewhere on the forum.
Running Windows on a Mac is a bit wonky, but it's doable for the couple times you'll need to code something. Make sure you partition at least 50GB for the Windows OS, as you'll need it for all the coding files and windows itself.
