Weathertech vs BMW OEM trunk liner

Going back and forth between the two for M4. BMW one looks cooler but more generic. IE might not fit as snug as weathertech. Looking for one that has fairly deep sides. IE more box like to keep sand and dirt from getting out over the edge. Anyone have thoughts on either as far as fitment, stuff getting past the edges, flimsyness, etc.. Tried searching the forums but it seems like the search does not like two word searches even if you "" around them.

I have the Weathertech version and it is solid. I've had patio stones and rocks on the liner and it is still mint.

+1 on Weathertech. I've had it on most of my cars and no issues with wear and it seems to keep the trunk pretty clean. Having said that I haven't experienced the BMW mat and can't comment on it. Also WT is manufactured in the US, not sure where the BMW one is made. Hope this helps.

I've used the Weathertech for about 4 years, its solid but there are a couple things I don't like about it. Was tough to get clean cut outs to exposure holes for the cargo net. The ends of the mat tend to curl up and its a bit stiff.

The BMW might be better; have the BMW sport all weather mats in the cabin and they are excellent.

I've never used the BMW one, but the Weather Tech fits excellent, looks good, and is very durable. Definitely recommended.

I have the BMW sport trunk mat. Looks good and works great for muddy shoes and a few coffee spills. I don't think it would stand up well as WT to patio stones as FirstF80 mentioned.

I've had both. The biggest issue with the BMW liner is that it's hard plastic and the back of it (by the seat back) has a lip. If you're trying to put something long into the trunk with the seats folded, they catch on the lip. Whenever I needed to get 2 sets of golf clubs in the trunk I had to put the seats down and had to lift them over the lip. A real pain. The Weathertech mat just flexes and lets the clubs through. I got the BMW mat free. Gave it away and bought the Weathertech.

I work for BMW but I rather have the Weathertech over the oem trunk tray. Looks much better and functions better. Not a fan of that red lining either on the BMW.
