Looking to buy a 2015 M4 - thoughts?
Hi All,
New to the forums but have been browsing for sometime. I just sold my 2013 BMW 328i M sport and looking to get into a 2015 M4. I have looked at several M4's in the San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix markets over the last few weeks and think I have found one that fits what I am looking for and priced fairly. I wanted to get some general feedback on if this looks like a good buy. Also do you think it would be worth adding the maintenance plan for the existing duration of the manufacture warranty which I believe they said would be $700? I plan to being very active on the forums once I get an M4 in my possession. The details of the car are as follows: Price Negotiated $46,250 + $300 for tint = $46,550. I then get hit with my 9.25% sales tax for San Francisco, $80 doc fee, and $52 DMV/Smog fee. OTD price = $50,987.88. The car has current CA tags good for the next 10 months so there is no registration fees with this specific car. -2015 M4 Yas Marina Blue with Silverstone extended leather interior -28K miles -DCT -Executive Package -Adaptive M Suspension -Driver Assistance Package -19" black wheels -Carbon Fiber Roof (I was shocked at how many M4's I looked at which had the moonroof which I preferred not to have) -1 Owner lease vehicle traded into the dealership which they kept and didn't buy from auction. -Clean carfax with no accidents or damage report. -In service date of 6/18/15 so 11 months remaining on warranty -Maintenance on file = 1200 Mile Service performanced, 3,929 miles front brake discs vibration / oscillation, 14,577 miles 1st engine oil service and full inspection, 25,206 miles brake fluid change, wiper rubber inserts replaced, microfilter replacement, oil change, and full inspection. -no signs of any exterior painting done to the car. -checked bolts under the hood, bumpers, and interior and nothing appears to have been removed and reattached. -small discoloration of the steering wheel which they said they could dye for me to make it look new again (should I get this dyed or take as is, nervous it may look worse and don't like that this will be done after I purchase the car) -biggest issue I had with the M4 were the tires put on by the previous owner before turning in the lease. It currently has the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2 tires on the front and rear. Fronts 255/35/19 and Rears 275/35/19 -currently no window tint but they said the would add Formula One ceramic 30% window tint for $300. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance! |

Kelly BB says with your area considered, options, and condition of "very good" that "fair market price" is $47,255.00. So, your $46kish price is a bit below that. Changing the condition to "good" doesn't change the price on my app.
The tires are not Michelins but for $1500 or so you can have new Michelins. I'd say go for it. Well optioned car, cool color, and no known issues. |

Well I ended up signing all the paperwork on the M4 today and it is officially mine. I am in LA for work which is where I purchased the car and I am flying to NY for a quick trip tomorrow and will be back Friday AM. I am picking up the M4 on Friday afternoon and will be driving it back home to San Francisco on Friday evening. The dealership is installing the window tint. Formula One Ceramic 30% and fixing the minor steering wheel discoloration by dyeing it. They said it will be ready to go for me on Friday morning completely detailed and a with a full tank of gas.
I am very excited to be rejoining the M family and will get some pictures posted of the M4 shortly. I look forward to being an active member on the forums now. |

Did you take the maintenance for $700? I wouldn't have, it seems really hard to spend that much on normal maintenance over the next 11 months, unless you get a full brake job.

I didn’t end up going with the maintenance extension because they wanted to charge me $1100 for it once I sat down and did the paper work. I know the next service for oil change is due in 7k miles and I believe spark plugs will need to be changed during this service as well. Any idea how much that would cost to complete both items?
The only thing I ended up getting from the dealership was the window tint which is going on today. Figured I would have them do it because I can’t come back until Friday to pick up the car so it gives it time to sit and I won’t have to wait as long with not being able to roll the windows down. |

Nice. If I were you, stop by EAS before heading up to SF and do their blackout package for all the chrome bits (unless you like that).
