CPO 17' M3

So, I have a deposit in on an M2C because I cannot do European Delivery in an M3 due to EOP. But, the M3 is the car I keep going back to. I love my wife's and I really wanted for me too. Given how bad the residuals/MF has become on the M3 and that every single dealer by me has them fully loaded when I only really want comp pack and DCT, I had all but given up.

To pass the time and torture myself I'd check the CPO inventory at local dealers to see if there is one I'd like to no avail. Last night I came across this pristine 17' F80, sakhir orange on black leather, DCT, comp package, exec (blah), filled with M Performance carbon bits with 12k miles for $62k. Thought naw, probably not CPO, then saw that it was. Did some research and saw similar ones selling for $64-70k on cargurus, autotrader, and beyond.

Called this morning to see if it was a mistake. Nope that's the price, warranty expires 12/21 with unlimited miles. I think no way there has to be something wrong. Went to go see it during lunch and I was super impressed. Only issue is curb rash on one wheel (they will fix for free) and the interior trim was replaced with some ugly white trim by the previous owner (easy to replace). The paint was impressive and the rest of the car looked like it had barely been driven.

Needless to say I am in love. Put a deposit to hold it for the afternoon while I think about it before going back this evening.

As always, everyone has opinions here. So what do you say, $62k for a 17 F80 with those options and CPO seem like the move? This will be a car I hold onto through the warranty.

It's a great deal, with that said I'm sure someone will say they probably got a better deal, and it probably would be true, because I have seen them listed at that price before any negotiating. But if it's the one you like, it's local and convenient that is good enough... At least that's how I would analyze it.

That is where my head is at. I can probably find a similar one 1,000+ miles away for 1-2k less. But then I'd have to take a day or two off work, won't be able to see it before buying, and pay for gas, flights, or shipping.

Think this may be the one.

It sounds like a good deal. I would ask to see why the previous owner traded it in and get a 3rd party inspection done just to be sure and if it all checks pull the trigger. Might want to see if you can knock them down a bit on price or get them to throw in something extra for good measure.

$60k+ is a lot of money to spend on a car that you aren't 100% in love with, so if you aren't 100% sold on the M2C, this is the better choice IMO.

This is at a BMW dealer. I have a good relationship with one of the mechanics and he inspected it for me. Has had all the required service done at the right intervals. The previous owner traded in for a white 2018 M3 because he wanted the new LEDs and a manual. They fixed the wheel and are going to give me the carbon fiber interior trim at cost, and gave me more than I was expecting on my trade in compared to others. Plus it has CPO for 3.5 more years.

Agreed on the price comment. I think I would like the M2C but not necessarily sold on it. Whereas I know I love the F80.

Awesome. Sounds like you got all your ducks in a row. His and her M3s. Sweet.

one thing which is not a big deal is you have to pay to transfer the maintenance
I give you my perspective
I had a 2015 F80
2018 LCI M2 that I just sold and I debated between M2C or another m3 , and I will be getting my LSB M3 next week as it is currently at VDC, so this might shed some light

Transfer what maintenance? Can you expand a bit?

the free maintenance on Bmw cars for three years , I think starting 2017 model years became non transferrable to the new owner , unless a transfer fee is paid
check on that with your dealer

Congrats. Nice car. I'm still on the fence between seeing my M3 or changing out for an M2C in a year. Both are great cars.

Thanks all! Very happy with the purchase. Going to pick her up this evening (they are fixing an issue with the carbon fiber splitter).
