Thumbs down Individual Paint Options Removed from BMWUSA M3/M4 Configurator

Been spec'ing out an M3 Comp Pkg incessantly via the online configurator for about a month now and noticed the online configurator just dropped the Individual paint options from the builder.

First, Silverstone dropped off, now the Individual options. Ugh. Was heavily considering $2k Tanzanite Blue after deciding I shouldn't spend $5k on San Marino Blue, which is my hands-down fav. If Silverstone were still an option, I'd go that route. Now I guess I'm stuck with obsessing over Alpine White or Mineral White.

$5k for SMB. It's now a no cost colour in the UK!

Do you have an allocation number assigned from a dealer?

You can’t order an M3 anymore anyway.... so it’s really a moot point.

No more configurable F80 M3 allocations, so if you wanted to order one to spec, it's too late.

Stop. When did this happen? Spoke to my usual client advisor at BMW Manhattan about a week ago and he didn't mention anything regarding limited allocations, quoted me on an exact build and everything... just haven't gotten around to swinging by since...

Edit: Catching up on the other threads in Ordering... looks like I will be very tight with ordering...

I worked with Peter at BMW manhattan for my recently built M3. He was awesome. But yeah you might be too late.

Check cars.com for nationwide new car inventory. You may find something you like on a dealer lot somewhere.

I'm always at a loss as to how uninformed some dealers are. And, then I start thinking ...maybe they knew and just wanted to lock him in and them give the bad news...with the "but I found one here close to what you want. "

Of note my dealer told me in Jan that M3 slots were very rare and has repeatedly said production is done at the end of June. We shall see.

You're too late. It's very unlikely your dealer or any dealer in your area has an allocation for an M3. They are ending production very soon. I personally have been through this. Found a last minute allocation and got a production number about 3 weeks ago and that alone was a miracle.

My dealership have a Tanzanite Blue on the lot right now, and it's not a per-order.

As for BMW NA and their pricing...until you folks still in the US figure out it's a ripoff relatively speaking (read: don't pay that shit), it will always remain there. Zero reason it should be a $5k option...it's money into NA arm, not the factory.
Considering the MSRP markup on parts between EU and USA, nothing is surprising.

Priced $16k USD MSRP of Parts in USA that had a $9.2k USD MSRP in EU and could be found for $7.8k USD in EU.

Cause it's not a M3 (F80), as it's a M4 cabriolet (F83).

@MomoM3

I surprise that BMW of Manhattan, which is the ONLY BMW owned dealership in the US, is clueless.

Just order a M3 CS in SMB- problem solved.

Last year prior to the going to MY 2018, all of the individual colors dropped off of the BMW USA configurator. The F82/F83 customers shouldn't worry, as if it's in the order guide, it's available. Just tool a few months for the configurator to be updated.

That's why I purchase most of my parts in Europe and bring back as checked luggage allowance. Have parts shipped to my last hotel waiting for my arrival and take to the airport. Plan on doing this for the CS carbon fiber front splitter, either July coming home from Milan (depends on how much wine I bring back), or October from Frankfurt after M5 Nürburgring-Nordschleife BMW driving experience. I even had my F83 tuned in Germany during ED, passed through US CBP, VDC, and PCD.

Hopefully after the F80 finishes production and to 'pump up' F82 and F83 sales SMB is a $1,800 individual color option for the US market. Still 24 months of F82 and 29 months of F83 production, sitting back, eating some popcorn, and waiting for the end of model production special editions.

You can find very cheap shipping from a number of EU Counties.

I was able to have 4 tires Express Delivered (about 3 days) from France for $36 USD....total. You cannot even send Ground, much less Express, USA for that price.

Also had 2 complete interiors on 3 pallets airfreighted from Germany for $600 USD to local international airport. Looking at the actual airbill, I actually paid several hundred to much!

Makes no sense.....but it’s reality.
